AG Radio Welcome to the best night of your life
A recent incident has sent Colorado residents into shock. Reports have revealed that an armed crew has stormed an apartment building that had allegedly been overrun by a Venezuelan gang. Reportedly spilling out from a sanctuary city, the gang has infested the quiet community with high crimes and fear, turning the neighborhood into a battlefield.
Earlier this month, video footage captured a group of heavily armed men breaking into an apartment in the Denver suburb of Aurora. The incident occurred shortly before a shootout happened at The Edge at Lowery apartment complex. The shootout left one person severely injured and a wide range of damaged vehicles. In an additional clip, two men with a tire iron were seen bashing a locked unit at the complex.
“It’s been a nightmare and I can’t wait to get out of here. Every day when we come home, we have to do this every time we go outside to take out the garbage,” a former resident said to a news outlet while showing off her five locks and door security bar jammer. “Every time we go to bed at night. We have to keep like this so that nobody can kick in the door.”
As of now, authorities have not confirmed if the gunmen in the video were members of the notorious Tren de Aragua cartel, but Councilmember Danielle Jurinsky have stated that the Venezuelan gang has taken over the apartment complex. While addressing the violent situation, Jurinsky said, “all started with a gang takeover.”
“We currently have entire complexes under gang control — complexes where staff have been beaten up, they’ve been threatened, their families have been threatened [and] complexes where there are no staff left on the property,” Jurinsky added. “These complexes are being run by this Tren de Aragua gang. They start brokering apartments themselves when someone leaves out of fear or whatever. They go in and take pictures of the apartment themselves. Then, I’ve been told, within hours, a Venezuelan family moves in.”
Unfortunately, Aurora has been trapped in a vicious cycle of violence since the Tren de Aragua gang arrived. Earlier this week, the Aurora Police Department released a statement to announce that they are investigating the video footage at the apartment complex. The department also shared they’ve created a special task force “in collaboration with local, state, and federal partners to specifically address concerns about the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) and other criminal activities.”
Nonetheless, individuals suspected of being a part of the Tren de Aragua gang have been linked to a number of high-profile crimes across the country, including the shooting of two NYPD officers during an arrest in June. It was also reported that the gang’s leader recently issued a “green light” for its members to target authorities who attempt to interfere with their criminal activity.
