BALLER ALERT SHOW THUMB MUNI LONG

Grammy-winning artist Muni Long, known for hits like “Hrs and Hrs” and her latest album Revenge, sat down with Ferrari Simmons and BT on The Baller Alert Show for an in-depth conversation. From her viral moments to balancing her rapidly growing career with motherhood, Muni gave fans a raw look into her life. Here’s everything you need to know from their lively discussion.

The interview kicked off with some light banter about an unexpected topic: hookah. BT teased Ferrari about a viral clip from a previous episode where Muni and Ferrari discussed Atlanta’s infamous hookah culture. Ferrari admitted to being surprised that their casual conversation about smoking hookah improperly (plastic tips, anyone?) blew up on TikTok with over 1.5 million views.

Muni humorously recalled her part in the viral moment, saying, “I was just trying to help y’all out, you know, save your lungs!” The conversation took a comedic turn when Ferrari confessed to smoking hookah in the club the night before. “Atlanta has a hookah problem,” Muni joked, sharing how she saw someone smoking hookah at a bus stop!

Switching gears, the trio dove into Muni’s downtime activities. While she’s known for her intense music grind, she revealed a different side of herself—a gamer at heart! “I’m playing Madden, 2K, and the new Dragon Ball Z game right now,” she said with a grin. Muni also shared how she lives vicariously through her created player on sports games. “I’m not 6’6” in real life, so my player gets to live out all my hoop dreams.”

Despite her love for video games, Muni admitted balancing her passion for music with personal time isn’t always easy. “Anything that pulls me away from my love for music, other than gaming, feels like a chore,” she confessed. Still, she makes time for her loved ones and passions outside of work.

The conversation eventually steered back to Muni’s true love—music. Her latest album, Revenge, released on August 30, 2023, has been making waves, with the single “Ruin Me” currently charting in the top 10 on R&B radio. Muni humbly reflected on her success, saying, “I’m just super grateful that people actually want to hear what I have to say, and that my authentic expression happens to resonate with the culture.”

BT praised her, noting that Muni seems to be in a space where she “can’t miss.” Muni shared her excitement about the album’s success, but admitted that some songs blow up without her even pushing them—like the fan-favorite track “Made for Me,” which took off after a viral performance at the Soul Train Awards. “I worked hard for Hrs and Hrs, but Made for Me was all the fans. That was the people!”

Her gratitude for the love she’s received was palpable. “It’s gratifying when you’re just being yourself, and people receive it,” she said, emphasizing how her personality and music go hand-in-hand.

Fans of Muni Long know her for her soulful music, but did you know she’s also a whiz in the kitchen? When Ferrari asked if Muni had a signature dish, she didn’t hesitate to answer. “I’m really good at soul food! I make a mean banana pudding and macaroni and cheese,” she said, sparking even more admiration from her hosts.

Ferrari joked about her naming a dish after herself like Patti LaBelle’s famous Patti Pies, but Muni laughed it off, staying humble. She enjoys cooking for her loved ones and takes pride in the reactions her food gets. “The best part is when they ask, ‘Who made this?’ and I get to say, ‘Me!’”

Motherhood has been a grounding force for Muni, who shared a glimpse into her life as a mom. Her two-year-old son is on a routine—watching Paw Patrol and Ms. Rachel, playing outside, and spending time with his grandparents. “He’s vocal now, asking for juice and cookies,” she said with a smile. Despite her packed schedule, Muni makes sure to prioritize family time. “I block off time for him, and he’s on a schedule. Family is everything to me.”

Muni also touched on the importance of maintaining her mental health amid the whirlwind of fame. She revealed her go-to self-care routine: naps! “I don’t have bad days because I nap,” she said, laughing. “If something’s still bothering me when I wake up, then I know it’s serious.”

Her hosts were inspired by her calm, grounded approach to life, especially when facing the pressures of fame. BT even joked, “I could’ve used that advice earlier today!”

As the interview wrapped up, Ferrari and BT pressed Muni on what’s next for her musically. While she’s always working on new material, Muni emphasized the need to pace herself. “I’m not a rapper—I need sleep and rest to be able to perform at my best,” she explained. Her methodical approach to her craft ensures that each project is top-tier, and she hinted at even more music on the horizon.

Despite her hectic schedule, Muni remains fully in control of her creative vision. From curating her custom wardrobe to overseeing every detail of her music production, she is a true artist who knows exactly what she wants.

“I feel blessed to be here,” she said, reflecting on her journey. “Everything I’m doing now, I used to pray for. And now that I’m here, I’m just grateful.”
