Machine Gun Kelly had a lot to say about being a white rapper during his latest appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast.

Earlier this week, he spoke about the stigma surrounding white artists in hip-hop, and he didn’t hold back.

According to MGK, it’s not Black people who make him feel unwelcome in the rap scene, but it’s other white people.

“To me, it’s so funny because the streets f*ck with me so tough. It’s honestly from other white people that give me the most sh*t,” MGK revealed. “I won’t deny that there is a subconscious stigma around that, being white in hip-hop.”

MGK went on to share that throughout his career, he’s been made to feel less lyrical than his Black peers. But said that the people who make him feel that way are the same skin color as him.

He emphasized that it was never the streets or Black fans doubting him. It was white critics who couldn’t see past their own biases.

MGK then pointed out that Eminem is the only white rapper who’s managed to break that barrier and be fully embraced by both white and Black fans.

“The crazy thing is, there’s only been one who’s done it. There’s only been one who’s done it and crossed that line of ‘we accept,’” MGK stated.

Despite the challenges, MGK is proud of the way he’s handled the stigma. He admits it took stepping away from rap for a while and exploring other genres. “That’s the goal,” MGK said. “And to me, I crossed that.”
