Throughout the past years, airlines have been hit with a string of lawsuits. More recently, JetBlue found itself in legal trouble after a woman claimed that she chipped her tooth on one of their frozen desserts.

The incident occurred on August 20th as Kiara Quinonez was traveling with her fiancé from New York to Paris. According to court documents, Quinonez filed a complaint on October 22nd, alleging that JetBlue served her a Nightingale-brand strawberry shortcake dessert at an unsafe temperature and failed to warn her that the ice cream was solid.

Quinonez says that the frozen dessert resulted in a root fracture in her upper left lateral incisor that required an emergency dental procedure. The complaint states that the incident led to extensive follow-up treatments, including a tooth extraction, an implant, and ongoing care. Additionally, Quinonez is accusing JetBlue of not meeting basic safety standards, arguing that the airline served “food at a temperature below what is reasonable or safe for consumption.”

As of now, Quinonez is seeking damages that will be determined by a jury for her “pain, suffering, and mental anguish.” Neither Quinonez nor JetBlue have yet to comment publicly on the situation.  But this isn’t the first time the airline has garnered legal issues. Three months prior to Quinonez’s incident, Tahjana Lewis filed a lawsuit against JetBlue after allegedly being burned by a “dangerously hot” cup of coffee. According to her complaint, a flight attendant accidentally spilled the drink on Lewis, which left her with severe burns across her upper chest, legs, and right arm.
