Been country!

Beyoncé’s latest album, Cowboy Carter, has officially been submitted for consideration in the Best Country Album category at the 2025 Grammy Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The country-themed project, which features collaborations with icons like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Miley Cyrus, has sparked conversations about Black artists reclaiming their place in country music.

The Grammy submission follows a controversial snub last month when Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter received zero nominations at the CMA Awards, despite the success of its chart-topping single, “Texas Hold ‘Em.” Now, with her eyes on the Grammys, Beyoncé could achieve a groundbreaking milestone. If nominated, she will become one of the few artists to earn Grammy nods across multiple genres, including country, R&B, rap, pop, rock, and dance.

This wouldn’t be Beyoncé’s first attempt to break into country music. In 2016, her track “Daddy Lessons” from Lemonade was rejected by the Grammy’s country committee. However, Cowboy Carter is receiving widespread praise for its authentic sound, tackling the genre with a modern yet traditional flair. The album has also given a platform to up-and-coming artists like Shaboozey, who has found major success with his track “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

Country stars like Post Malone, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson are all vying for the Best Country Album prize. Already the most decorated artist in Grammy history with 32 wins, Queen Bey could add another genre to her résumé and continue pushing boundaries in the music industry.
