Gunshots were reportedly fired near Donald Trump’s Florida golf club Sunday afternoon.
According to the New York Post, two individuals exchanged gunfire outside of the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, though it’s unclear what led to the chaos. Fortunately, the shots were not directed at the former president, nor was he injured. The 78-year-old was at the golf resort, which is situated near his primary residence, Mar-a-Lago. His campaign confirmed the incident in a statement.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” stated Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign spokesman.

This incident follows a prior assassination attempt on Trump just two months ago. On July 13th, a gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was speaking. One bullet reportedly grazed Trump’s ear. Rally attendee Corey D. Comperatore passed away in the shooting.
While details regarding the recent shooting remain limited, the heightened security concerns come as Trump continues his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
