AG Radio Welcome to the best night of your life
After taking over the chicken sandwich industry, Chick-fil-A is reportedly entering the entertainment industry with plans to launch its own streaming platform featuring original content.
Deadline reports that the fast-food giant is collaborating with major production companies, including well-known studios, to create family-friendly shows, particularly in the unscripted genre.
Among the upcoming content is a family-oriented game show from Glassman Media, the producers of NBC’s The Wall, and Michael Sugar’s Sugar23, known for their work on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. According to Deadline, this game show has already received a ten-episode order.
Budgets for these unscripted projects are expected to range around $400,000 per half-hour episode. The streaming platform will launch later this year, and discussions are ongoing about developing scripted series and animated content.
Brian Gibson, who has previously worked on popular shows like History’s Top Gear remake and Fox’s The X Factor adaptation, spearheads Chick-fil-A’s programming efforts, engaging with various producers to bring these projects to life.
Chick-fil-A’s foray into streaming makes it the latest non-entertainment brand to venture into original content production. Other companies, such as Lyft with its game show Lucky Lyft and Airbnb with the documentary Gay Chorus Deep South, have similarly explored the entertainment space.
This isn’t Chick-fil-A’s first experience in content creation. The company has previously produced Stories of Evergreen Hills, a series of short, animated films for its website, and has developed children’s puzzles and games under its Pennycake brand.
Industry insiders view Chick-fil-A’s move as a positive development, particularly for the reality TV sector, which has faced challenges recently. The venture is seen as an opportunity for branded content, offering a new avenue for creative storytelling.
As Chick-fil-A continues to diversify its brand, the upcoming streaming platform could become a significant player in family-friendly entertainment. However, the company has yet to comment officially on these developments.
