AG Radio Welcome to the best night of your life
Bears CB Jaylon Johnson surged into a pro-caliber season in his fourth year in the NFL this past season. He became one of the most impactful cornerbacks in the league, earning second-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowl selection for the first time in his career. However, he was not selected to the NFL Network’s list of the top players as the new season approached.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was voted within the top 100, landing at 92 despite only playing four snaps last season. Rodgers ranked 51st last year and, being a five-time MVP, there are levels to this, but that was not good enough for Johnson. He voiced his opinion after practice over the weekend.
“It’s bullsh*t. There ain’t no way… Aaron Rodgers didn’t even play in the season and he was voted,” Johnson said. “It’s disrespectful. It’s disrespectful. Yeah, no, it is disrespectful. I know I go out there and line up, and I know receivers go out there and can’t say I’m not one of the best players they play against.”
“Whatever it is, it happened. Doing it wouldn’t have just moved me to where I feel like I’m complacent or anything but just to see it, ain’t no way 100 guys are better, ain’t no way, especially guys who were hurt, ain’t no way.”
This will only motivate the electrifying cornerback, who ranked first in coverage yards allowed, passer rating allowed, and had the best cover grade in the NFL at 91.0, according to Pro Football Focus.
