Rick Ross appears to be revamping his famed MMG label with the signing of a promising act, Nino Breeze. This move underscores the enduring power of the label 15 years after its launch, with Rozay continuing to introduce fresh talent.

Rozay formally announced the signing of Nino during his third Annual Car Show in Atlanta earlier this month. As the pair are preparing to collaborate on their first official collaboration, a remix of Nino’s single, “Type of N***a,” Rozay seems to be using the excitement of his latest signee as a way to revamp his famed Maybach Music Group, which has stood the test of time.

After founding Maybach Music Group in 2009, Rick Ross achieved what many artists-turned-executives struggle with: launching the successful careers of fellow rappers. Meek Mill and Wale both signed to the label in 2011. His friend and former Triple C’s groupmate Gunplay joined the trademark as a solo act the following year. From there, Rozay held an incomparable lineup of artists, solidifying MMG’s position as one of the most potent rapper-run imprints in the music industry.

MMG’s first major success came with the release of “Self Made Vol. 1” in 2011, a compilation album featuring Ross alongside his roster, which received commercial success, featuring bangers such as “That Way” and “Tupac Back.” Another aspect that made Rozay stand out amongst his peers was his ability to give his artists space to grow their individual brands. MMG stars released numerous successful projects under the label, such as Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” and Wale’s “Ambition.” Additionally, Meek was able to launch his own company, Dream Chasers Records, overseeing his own arsenal of musicians such as the late Lil Snupe and Tafia.

While Meek and Wale have wrapped up their MMG contracts, the rappers have continuously expressed their respect for Ross. Now, with the new generation of MMG, which includes not only Nino Breeze but also Young’n Breed and Quise MMG, it’s apparent that Rozay still has an excellent ear for hip-hop.

As we await to see what Ross has up their sleeves for Maybach Music Group, let’s take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of our favorite hits from the camp.  While it’s impossible to capture the full impact of the Miami-based label, these tracks highlight its influential legacy, proving why MMG remains untouchable.
