A Texas bankruptcy court judge has approved the liquidation of Alex Jones‘ personal assets to repay the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims. Last week, Jones consented to convert his personal bankruptcy into a Chapter 7 liquidation, a move the judge sanctioned on Friday.

Jones owes more than $1 billion to the Sandy Hook families due to his false claims about the 2012 school massacre. His Chapter 7 bankruptcy agreement aligns with the victims’ demands for compensation.

This development signals that Jones will likely lose control of Infowars, the conspiracy media platform he established in the late 1990s. Infowars has been a vehicle for Jones to spread misinformation and build substantial wealth.

Judge Christopher Lopez will also consider liquidating Free Speech Systems, Infowars’ parent company, to help satisfy the judgments against Jones.

“This is probably the end of Infowars here very, very soon,” Jones said before entering the bankruptcy court in Houston. Nonetheless, he added, “It’s just the beginning of my fight against tyranny.”
