AG Radio Welcome to the best night of your life
As anyone who travels often will tell you, there is much to be said for a good airport outfit, especially if you need to look chic when you arrive at your destination. You’ll want your look to feel put-together enough so that you can travel straight from the airport to any events, but still comfortable enough to ensure that you feel at ease in-flight.
When I’m considering an airport outfit, I often look at what celebrities have been wearing for their recent flights. As very frequent flyers, this particular style set has come to master the art of dressing for the skies. Choosing sleek silhouettes with comfort in mind, I’m usually inspired after a good scroll. Having come to understand the anatomy of a great airport look with the help of my favourite celebrities, I can now appreciate that shoes are the most important part of any airport ensemble.
Airport shoes need to be three things: comfortable, versatile and easy to slip off and on for security. They’re often the hardest part of any outfit to get right, let alone one crafted for the airport. Keen to understand the styles that celebrities keep coming back to, I spent some time figuring out exactly which shoes they call upon for this specific occasion.
Read on to discover the five airport-ready shoes celebrities always wear to fly.

Style Notes: Simultaneously chic and comfortable, ballet flats are one of the first shoe styles I think of when planning an airport look. The easiest to take off and pop back on, these classic flats ensure you breeze through security while setting you up for an elegant look upon arrival.

Style Notes: Perfectly polished, glossy loafers are some of my favourite shoes to wear to the airport. Pairing well with thick socks for additional comfort, this classy shoe trend instils a polished silhouette in ways few other flat shoes can. To give your look a casual edge, follow Zoe Saldaña’s lead and style your loafers with baggy jeans, a cosy cardigan and a warm layer on top.

Why not go for a pair in the colour of the season?

Style Notes: The best shoe to wear through security by a mile, backless clogs are your friend for the airport. Though they’re comfortable and easy to take off, I’d recommend avoiding styles with metal buckles if you don’t want to have to add them to your tray. If that doesn’t faze you, I have one thing to say: Birkenstocks.
Zara
Flat Split Suede Slingback Shoes
These slip-on shoes are perfect for daily styling.
BIRKENSTOCK
Boston Suede Clogs
Finish with a pair of woolly socks.
It’s not technically a clog, but it has the same energy.

Style Notes: Winter calls for excellent boots, but with the faff of buckles and zips, they’re not always the most practical to wear to the airport. Luckily, chic pull-on styles have been trending this season, and Elizabeth Olsen’s pair have inspired me to shop some for myself.
H&M
Calf-High Leather Boots
Style these over tucked-in jeans or wear them underneath a baggy, wide-leg pair.
Russell & Bromley
